HISTORY

- Beginning
Born as the only child of his family in Beijing, China, Zhou Mi was everything his parents could hope for. Well, he was a boy after all, it didn't matter much past that. Prestige, honor, follow your family's word. Mi was supposed to be raised in his father's image, only he had the awkward long legs of his grandfather and the free spirit of past era. From a young age, he found joy in singing and being active in multiple roles, no matter how hard the work was causing him to take part in quite a few school musicals and even a sports game or two. There was something exciting the young boy about making friends and staying out all day even if his mother wanted him to come home. This led to his usually cheerful demeanor that he continued to carry in life, always smiling, always supporting those around him whenever he can. Due to family honor, there was a hope that the smiling, lanky boy would find a desire for business or maybe even a doctorate, but Mi never saw that as a goal in life. His world was full of color and danger... well, as much danger as one could get into in his school's music room. The need to see the world grew as he went into high school and discovered a world outside the heirloom they called a front door.

- Middle
Against all protests, Mi found himself drawn to South Korea where men's fashion was highly more stylish and the music sounded way more exciting. Thankfully he was able to study the language through his school and spent extra time preparing by finding universities that would accept and provide for overseas students. Through his last year, he spent much of it bantering with his parents only to come to terms with his mother. His father saw the adventure as a failure, but he gave his son this much freedom in hopes that he would return home. There was no return or failure for Mi, his bags were packed within the last months of school and he soon made his way to Yonsei University.

Korea wasn't all that Mi thought it would be when he first got there. The words were much more confusing than they had been in his language classes and the people were not as inviting as the dramas made it seem. Mi half wondered if the romance dramas he spent nights watching were right at all. The first year could have been as terrible as his first failed introduction in class, but it wasn't. He found himself drawn into a group of students that proved there was more than learning and shopping for hours at the mall. Soon enough Mi was standing at the door of Delta Tau Delta, wondering if his life could get any crazier as he went into rush week as a freshmen. Turns out, he was completely right. It became crazy, but in a good way as he found his home in Korea among a group of boys who didn't all completely fit in, but somehow made the perfect family.

- And?
As he started into his Broadcast Journalism major, Mi began to grow and develop through his time in Korea over the next few years. Instead of the lanky, awkward freshmen, he became obsessed with high style fashion and working out every morning even when there were exams to be studied for. Friends were easy to find as he became completely open and inviting to everyone he was able to talk to. There was a more sophisticated, but still a bit dumb, man standing instead of a boy wanting to see the world though his outlook on life and personality never changed. Music turned into a job, as well as his usual hobby, as Mi joined a little known radio called Yonsei Campus Radio where he found a girl who showed him the wonders of knowing many different kinds of alcohol. Currently, he is residing as the vice president of DTD while going into his last year at Yonsei. It's an immense honor to be in the position and he enjoys it to the fullest, though he wonders if he can fully fill the shoes of the previous vice president. While his father still doesn't accept his future in a 'silly art major' and still waits for Mi's return, he plans to continue his work in Korea and possibly even travel back to China or Japan for further opportunities.

PERSONALITY + FACTS

Mi can often be found at the Yonsei Fitness center, usually on weekends and early in the morning. He enjoys weight work and yoga immensely, though he's not sure why this sudden love has taken hold. Just a few years ago, he would have preferred to eat ice cream on the couch...

When he's not at DTD or the center, Mi can usually be found with Gyuri at Yonsei Campus Radio. He very much enjoys making Gyuri play dumb games and doing weird vine videos when the music is playing. Mi is hopeful they can start broadcasting longer shows soon that can be watched and heard.

The other love in Mi's life is a caramel toy poodle named Ai who lives mostly off campus. He's realized over the years that a dorm is not a home for pets, nor is it usually allowed, so he found a home for his dog with close friends and groomers. That doesn't mean he won't sneak him in every once in a while though.

Fashion is an obsession that Mi has been cultivating since his high school years. He loves the feeling of a new jacket or putting on a fresh pair of sunglasses. Shoes is especially a problem as he receives one too many calls from his mother for using the family credit card. Favorite designers of the moment are McQueen, Alexander Wang, and Marc Jacobs.

Due to a wild night as a sophomore, Mi has a lightning bolt tattoo on his left shoulder. Thankfully he had taste even while completely out of it. Piercings are another story though as he has at least two in each ear by choice, and one in the cartilage on his right side. Earrings can be a high class fashion statement sometimes you know.

While it might be obvious to most, Mi considers himself a free spirit when it comes to love as well. He's spent years dealing with rumors, often malicious, talking about who he's dating. Though that might have affected him as a teen, he now believes he's free to do what he wants, and hey, any publicity is good for the radio right?

Mi is a very 'sunshine' like boy in terms of personality. He considers himself very loud and in your face, enjoys making friends often with those around him even if some see it as annoying. Mi think it's better to be this way then show his weaknesses that very few see. He'd prefer to be seen without flaws than with them in almost any situation. Though when he does have emotional moments, they can often hit hard and fast in terms of never ending tears and loud anger. Honestly, Mi can only count these situations on his ten fingers or less when it comes down to it. There is always peace in Mi's world rather than anything else, even in his dating life or school work. Mi will always try to find the optimistic way in any situation, especially when it comes to his friends. Fierce, loyal, trustworthy are words he'd like to use in terms of friendship with those in his inner circle. But that isn't to say Mi doesn't have his flaws. Due to being too passionate, he can often be sensitive about some topics or hurting those around him causing him to try and be even better than necessary in most situations. Mi is often very worried about his image and how people see him, especially after the changes in his life since becoming an adult. He also gets a bit confused with his languages or cultures often, causing usual embarrassment. It's gotten better over the last couple years, but Mi still remembers the cringe worthy moments of his freshmen year.
